Mississippi Book Festival, August 19 to 21
We drove from Auburn to Jackson, Mississippi for a book festival. Pete's main (only?) problem is that he does not love the car. He hates it, actually. He'll watch movies on our iPad for a bit, but then he needs to be entertained, and sometimes he just screams.
Other than the car ride, though, we had fun in the Deep South. Jackson feels like a city out of the 1950s--lots of old buildings and signs and homes. Mat brought Pete to the festival on Saturday, so I got to see him right after my panel! The highlight of the trip, surely.
Pre-Pete, we used to get food from a drive-thru and then eat while driving. Post-Pete, we try and stop to let Pete stretch his little, fat legs. Here we are in a Mexican restaurant in Selma.
At the Mayflower, an old school seafood restaurant. It was delicious; Pete was not so keen on hanging out while we ate.

How'd you get here?
The crowd at our panel. Book festivals are really hit or miss--sometimes there is no one there; sometimes you get a good crowd.
