Pete's Twenty-seventh week, September 24 to 30

This is a looong post, because Pete had quite the week! First, my college roomate and best friend Veena visited, all the way from NYC! We tried to give her the full Auburn experience by going to an SEC football game. Before the game we walked through downtown Auburn, margaritas in hand (apparently there are open container laws in effect on game days) and took in the sights, and by sights I mean a lot of people clad in orange and blue, complete with temporary face tattoos. I'd kind of never seen anything like it. There were tailgates everywhere you looked, and people in weird orange and blue costumes, and grown men with their faces painted orange and blue. Then we went to a tailgate (of the people who used to own our home, who are literally the nicest women on the planet) and lucked into some amazing seats, courtesy of the nicest women on the planet! I was worried about Pete's ears, so spent most of the half an hour we were there with my hands clamped over them, but I was very impressed by the spectacle that is a college football game. The spirit! There was so much of it.

On Sunday, September 27, Pete woke up with a little white nubbin of a tooth! Finally! The internet said teething took three to four days but the internet was wrong. It took two weeks.

On Monday, September 28, Pete had his six month check-up. 90% weight, 45% height, and 97% head circumference, making him the Danny Devito of babies. We remeasured his height when we got home, and he was an inch taller than the nurse measured (he was wiggling around a lot), so he is probably not actually 45% height (nor the Danny Devito of babies).

I love this face--it's new.

Fipi is finally earning her keep!

We tell him to be gentle (he doesn't get it at all) but Fipi DOES NOT CARE when Pete manhandles her. It is kind of amazing. Note Zocalo in the background, who keeps a safe distance from Pete at all times.
