Pete's Twenty-third Week, August 27 to September 2

This was a big week for Pete! First swing, first music class, first peach! On Sunday we took Pete to Hickory Dickory park, about a mile away from us, and Pete watched other kids play (he's fascinated by other miniature people) and got pushed in a swing (very gently). Then, on Monday morning, we went to music class, and Pete seemed so shocked by all the commotion (tambourines! babies! bubbles!) that Mat and I thought his head was going to pop off. Finally, on Wednesday, we gave Pete his first peach! He LOVED it, and gummed on it for a good half hour until we took it away. Since then he's had a cucumber (not his fave), an avocado (also not his fave) and as I write this he's eating an apple in the kitchen (which he likes). We think he's really close to crawling, which is both alarming and exciting. Alarming because our house is very far from baby-proof!

We did some planting while my mom was here.

This was the text I got from Mat letting me know Pete was waiting to be fed, in my office.
